Beit Avi, The House of My Father, Jewish Learning Congregation is open to all who are interested in exploring Jewish culture. Judaism is not a religion but a way of life. Our mission is to build a community where people can learn Torah and grow together throughout every stage of life. We value friendship and collaboration. Together we strive to nurture relationships, celebrating moments of joy and supporting each other in times of need. We create meaningful, educational, spiritual and social opportunities to enrich our lives, our families and our relationships.
Here at Beit Avi we embrace inclusivity and we value each member for the gifts they bring to our community. We welcome everyone who wants to connect to Jewish life regardless of religious background, race, ethnicity, gender, socioeconomic status, or age. We believe there is a place in our congregation for everyone wanting a complete relationship with our Creator. Here we do not leave out any aspect of the Most High.
Beit Avi is a Jewish Learning Center where all faith based systems are welcome to come and learn the Word through Jewish eyes. We believe in the importance of building relationships with members of the interfaith community, and that through dialogue within our Congregation and in the broader community, we can inspire and encourage motivation, healing and change. Only we, the people, can build a world with which the Father would want to dwell.
It’s so much more than services. Leave the frenzy of your week behind, connect with the Creator, and plug into something that is both ancient and cutting edge, traditional and innovative. Take a deep breath, and join us as we reconnect ourselves into a place of awe, gratitude, and Jewish study.
Allow yourself to dive into the Jewish learning perspective and SPARK your imagination. We want EVERYONE to take part in this inspirational community-wide Jewish learning experience. Let your heart be moved by Torah(the five books of Moses); Torah is also how the Creator shares His purpose, intent, and desire behind all that exists and from which all things emerge. We invite you to journey with us and be receptive to a transformative and mind opening experience.
Never been to a Shabbat service? That’s OK! Our Shabbat services are always open to all and we work hard to help everyone feel included–from greeting you with a warm smile at the door, to announcing the page numbers so you’re not lost– we enthusiastically invite you to come explore the hidden treasures of Scripture.
Shabbat (Saturday) morning at Beit Avi begins at 10:30am with a deep dive into the wisdom of Jewish roots and Torah study led by Andrew Martinez. This time of learning explores the weekly Torah portion, festival texts and other rabbinic and modern sources, typically lasting 90 minutes.
Shabbat is a time of joyous celebration. After you’ve sparked your imagination with study, join us at 12:30pm for a special Oneg (light meal, literally “delight” in Hebrew, pot luck). The Oneg is an integral part of our Shabbat experience at Beit Avi. We welcome this opportunity for everyone to share the spirit of community and enjoy a delicious meal. Here at Beit Avi we embrace what Scripture says about healthy eating. We lean more toward plant based foods, clean meats and fish. Please plan to join us this Shabbat and bring with you an item to share during our Oneg!
